Project Managing Myself (with Trello!)
Hi everyone!
As you know, I've been working on becoming a freelance content creator for the past several months and (luckily!) I've been getting a bit busier with client work. However, I've been letting my personal content slip behind in priority and since my personal brand is what keeps me in contact with anyone who is interested in working with me - I want to make it a priority again.
So, for the past fews weeks I've been searching for something to keep me organized. I’ve been testing softwares to keep track of my client work, Patreon content, podcast (Seeking Serotonin if you're looking for something new to listen to!), and blogposts. My hand-written to-do list just couldn't keep up, so I went on the hunt for a project management software.
Since I'm my own manager here, I want to make sure I'm meeting deadlines and optimizing my time. After a bit of research, I came across a free software called Trello that I've been trying out for a little over a week now and so far it's been very useful!
It uses the Kanban system, with three lists: to-do, doing and done - which I find super useful for visually tracking my progress. But, if that doesn't sound like a system that works for you - the lists are completely customizable and you can edit them to fit your needs.
You can share projects with team members, set color coded labels, add checklists that track your progress, and include due dates for deadlines. Adding attachments is as easy as dragging the file into your browser, and Google Drive is integrated so you can include entire documents if needed.
At this point, the free version has everything I could need and even comes with one "power-up" that I use to set up a calendar view of my work. So far, so good.
If anyone has used Trello before, I'd love to hear from you! Or if you have other project management softwares or tips to recommend, send them my way.
Thanks again for reading and keeping up with my progress :)
I'm currently looking for a new client to add into my rotation - if you or anyone you know are looking for digital marketing and content help, send me a message!
